looks like soil - a dark brown colour. cant post a piccy because I have a layeer of gravel over mine..

Best bet is to ignore the colour. Add a narrow band of your chosen gravel/sand at the front of the tank: then lay the plant substrate behind it and top it all with the gravel/sand. The narrow band of gravel/sand you put along the front of the tank will hide the plant substrate and all you will see is the gravel/sand. Only you will know there is something else there.

what happens if you dont put gravel/sand ontop of it
bcuz i want to keep it the natural brown colour and not add any gravel

If you used tetraComplete on its own it would make the water very cloudy and also leach all the nutrients out in one go!!.

Tetra Complete substrate is meant to be used underneath gravel; if you don't use gravel on top, the water will be the colour of tea and any plants won't stay put.
