Hi, this is my first post.

I would like to find out a bit more about the cichlids I bought at my LFS yesterday.

I bought 1 pseudo acei -1 inch long
1 electric blue maingano -1 inch
1 yellow lab - almost 2 inches
2 assorted africans (I think one may be a kenyi) kenyi- 1 inch ??other one??- 2 inches
1 cherry red zebra -almost 1 inch

My 60 gallon tank is set up with these fish and temporarily in there are 1 zebra danio, 1 giant danio, 1 tinfoil barb.
But the danio and barb can be moved into another one of my tanks anytime.

Any suggestions on what other Africans I should get??

The unknown assorted african is a browny grayish color with vertical stripes that are slightly darker than his body color.

Should I pair up these fish with more of the same species? What other cichlids would do well with them?

thanks

lol, it's better to research before you buy the fish. :)

:hi: to the forum btw.

The acei will get to about 6-7" long. and they like to be in groups.

Actually all the mbuna cichlids prefer to be in little groups, especially the males. They are harem breeders.

Cherry red?

How about taking pics of the fish and posting them for us to get correct ID. In my signature is link for how post pics. It pretty much goes step by step in the section I wrote.

I did research the yellow labs. Sorry but my digital camera stinks I just tried to take pics, but the flash messed them up, you can't take the flash off anyways.

Are there any notable color differences between gender yet so I can tell?

Should I make groups of 1male/2female or should I just have random genders?

I have some good quality cichlid flake food. What other food should I feed them and how frequently?

thanks

When I was reading a page on how to tell what gender a cichlid is I happened to come across a picture on the page.......

I realised the female peacock cichild/red peacock/blue peacock looked exactly like one of my assorted cichlids.

A quick google images search for kenyi lead me too my other assorted cichlid, which I found out is actually a red zebra.

Still need advice on if I should pair them up or what???
