First place at State 4-H horse show!! WHOOEE!!
Hi all,
I was talking with my mom and we both agreed that I should upgrade my filter on my planted 55 gallon, and we both love the spraybar on my current filter.
So, getting to the point, I want to upgrade to a canister filter.
I don't know what kind to get though. I want the filter to be easy to maintain, fairly cheap, but of good quality. I also want the spraybar too. What would you guys reccomend??
Thanks,
Robin

I'd recomend the ehiem classic range
perhaps the 2213 for your tank

I run the 2213 on my 72 gall but it is not really big enough for that so I have an additional internal as well, but for 55 gall it should be plenty.

I recently purchased a Via Aqua 650 canister for my 75g tank because it got good reviews and was priced substantially less than a comparible Eheim.

It's a good, solid filter. Probably not quite as nice as an Eheim, but definitely a good value. The only real drawback is the lack of good assembly instructions, though honestly it really wasn't that complicated.

HTH!

Ok, I think I'll get the eheim, but I have one more quesiton. Should I get the 2213 or the 2215? Would it be better to get the lesser one or the bigger one? Would it be too much flow?

Edit my table didnt come out right

The 2211 is rated upto 40 US galls and outputs 79 us gallons an hour

The 2213 is rated upto 66 US galls and outputs 116 us gallons an hour

The 2215 is rated upto 92 US galls and outputs 164 us gallons an hour

Bear in mind these flow rates will be reduced alot with media

Id be temped to go for a 2215, i think they overate the capacity a bit personally, i have a 2211 on a 20 gallon and its enough but wouldnt want any less flow
