Hi Guys

I have a diamond tetra which up until tonight has been fit n healthy, his symptome at the monent are that he is swimming in a spiral and then upside down, it also looks as tho his eyes at the top are protruding slightly and look sort of bloodshot round the edge, my tank parameters are

temp 26
nitrate 30
nitrite 0
ammonia 0
ph 7.4

Any ideas what the probelm/solution is ?

Thanks

Justin

Bacterial infections, sounds like swimbladder with a second infection popeye, if you can isolate the fish you could try an antibiotic, but once swim bladder has progresed there is no cure, is he sill eating.

Sorry you can buy a swin bladder med by interpet, but with having the popeye anti internal bacteria might be better by interpet, try some shelled peas and frozen daphnia, plus some epson salt bath one tablespoon to the gal.

He can't really eat cos he hasn't got the coordination,i don't have the means to isolate can i add the treament to the tank with other fish in and is it contagious?

Not sounding good, issolate he's not going to make it, if you leave him in the tank and he dies and the other fish peck at him then yes that when it's contagious.

best to seperate and euthenize i'm afraid.

Do you have an extra filter that you could use and put him in a 5 gallon bucket (water change bucket) and isolate him that way?
