does any1 know of any cichlid or anything else i can put with a pair of cons in a 29 gal?

If thats the 29g tank in your sig then you cant put nothing in there, in fact you will have to remove those fish from the tank, if its a differnt 29g then the onl;y thing i can recomend is getting a pink con they add alot of color to the tank or you can spend a bit of cash and get a honduran red point witch some people say is a convict but i dunno.

A spawning pair of con's will destroy anything you attempt to put in with them.

This depends on what you're referring to by "blue cons". If you mean what most lfs stock as "blue cons" then these are usually a hybrid of a convict and a honduran red point giving a lot of the personality of a true con but the color of a HRP. However these fish are hybrids so personality will vary.

Now, if you were simply talking about honduran red points, then no these do not have the same temperament. These are a different species. They are found in fast flowing waters (rivers and streams) whereas convicts are found in slower moving waters (lakes and ponds). Also the body shapes are different. Convicts are more tall bodied and stockier and will reach a max. size of 6-7" usually for males. HRP's are more elongated and not as stocky as a con and a male will usually max. out at 4-5". HRP's are not nearly as aggressive as a convict. They will however fearlessly defend their brood during spawning. The rest of the time though these fish can safely be kept with many types of schooling and shoaling fish. They can also be kept with other smaller, docile cichlid species. :)

There is also a naturally occuring blue color morph of the true convict but I doubt these are commonly available at any lfs. You might be able to find a breeder that collected his own or knows a collector that may have come across a pair of real "blue morph" convicts but it's highly unlikely, imo. :)

no as in blue con i meant just regular con, u no the blueish gray ones with black stripes :D

i went 2 the lfs 2day 2 c wha they had 2 offer, they said they had albino cons..... what r they? how many types of cons r they? i want sumthin thats agressive, colourfull and easy easy easy 2 spawn.

albino cons is the same thing as pink cons, theyre color full well, theyre bright whitish pink

is there anything equally as exciting as cons but pretty at the same time? i want colour n sumthing that spawns easily. i have always been a peakock fan n the pet store n i like the albino eurikas aswell. any info for me would greatly be appreciated

Color and personality and easy spawning? Try kribs. In a 29g, you could have a pair of kribs and a school of small tetras or barbs. Kribs are African, not NW though.

Here's a good, quick bit of info about them:
Reaching a size of 3.5" to 4" as adults they fit in well with most community fish and other more "civil" cichlids. Sexing the Krib is very easy also. Males tend to be longer and have more pronounced and tapered dorsal and anal fins, as well as a series of "eye spots" (but this is not always true). Females have a plum to a red colored patch over their bellies and have more rounded fins, and fuller bodies. Kribs also prefer temperatures of seventy seven to eighty two degrees Fahrenheit (twenty five to twenty eight degrees Celsius) and a pH near neutral. Mine is pretty constant at 6.6-6.8.
That's from this website.

If you do a google image search for Pelmatochromis kribensis, you'll get a bunch of good pictures.

wow yall got me wantin all three lol, i want the cons for their behaviour, the kribs for their beauty n the jewels for their beauty, i already have info on the cons, what bout the jewels n kribs? whats their behaviour and eating habits? tank mate? i know for sure my lfs has jewels, and they r easy 2 spawn? whats the success rate? wow they r spactacular
