Hi

I've got a 20uk gallon tank that is now spare after the death of my turtle :-(
and i'm wanting top set up a mbuna tank, so i'm just wondering what you guys think will live quite happy in there the tank has been thouroughly cleaned and is now cycling until pay day when i can get to the LFS to buy some livestock

any ideas would be a great help!

Cheers

Your tank is about the minimum size for a Mbuna setup which means you need to choose your fish very carefully. Yellow labs would be the best bet, most Mbuna are far too agressive for the tank size, I have occasional problems with my 55 gal. Hopefully some of the others will give you some ideas but yellow labs are the only ones that spring to mind. That said, they are great fish and you wouldn't be dissapointed.

20 uk is about 23 US. I do not recommend any mbuna for this tank. Even Labs, while not as aggressive, can get pretty large (up to 5") and are very active and need swimming room.

I recommend looking at shell dwellers from lake Tanganyika, or dwarf species from the east rivers of Africa or the New World.

I'd go for some lake tang fish and shell dwellers for that size of a tank....mbuna i think is way too agressive for that size tank....just my 2 cents....

Tank measurements are 24lx18hx12d

Thanks for your help - i'll look into it!

Cheers

ok - i think i might swap the tanks around a bit now anyway and maybe set up my 4ft tank for Mbuna, but i'm not too sure what to do yet.
