i have 4 zebra danios, 1 leopard danio, 2 blue neons, 1 black neon and 2 Algae eaters..... now what i want to know is what other tropical fish can i mix with them??
I also got told that having algae eaters are bad?? are they??? and how long to do they grow to??

sorry for all questions but hope you all can help!!! :dunno:

bascially they just get really big if they are chinese algea eatres, what else you can get depends on the size of the tnak, althouhg everything else you have should have no probelesm with most small communiity fish althogu the algea eater could be a worry, tho i belive neons perfer to be in slightly larger groups

How bigs the tank.
You could go for more of the peaceful cichlids - kribs , firemouths , angels , severums. but that depends on your tank size.
I've kept all of the above with the normal "dither" fish you have with no problems whatsoever - the only problem I had was one of the cichlids wiped out a shoal of Cardinal tetras - nothing else only those

you could get some more Neon's, of both sort.

White Cloud Moutain Minnows are lovely fish, very hardy to, need to be ingroups of 4+.

depens on your tank size though.

i fancied getting gold danios and pearl ones i think thats what they called -_-

I would get more neons of each kind because they need to be in groups of 6. FIRST, let us know the size of your tank and try to describe your 'algae eaters'. If they are chinese, they get to 10" and become aggressive - totaly unsuitable for your tank. They'd also be unsuitable if they are plecs as many kinds get very big and almost all are territorial and should be kept singly (except when in a good-sized tank).

With the fish you have right now, you'd be at your limmit for a 20 gallon (assuming those algae-eaters are siamese algae eaters or something of a similar size/temperament).

You take them back to the LFS. How big is your tank?

Local fish store - where you got your fish from - a pet store would work too. How big is your tank?

what can you just hand them in??
its a 20 gallon

Yes you can.

If it's a 20 you can't realy add any more fish right now anyway.

What fish are you thinking about taking back? The algae eaters? Do you know what they might be?

Right i am not really going to add more right now but i just wanted to know what i could mix with the fish i have-
3 neons
4 zebra danio
1 leopard danio
2 algae eaters

but i just want rid of the algae eaters! can anyone suggest any other fish that will help clean my tank without it going for my fish????? :-( :dunno:

a bristlenose pleco, clown pleco, or 3/4 otos (Otocinclus) would be your best bet

clown plecos arent known to be as good of algae cleaners as the other 2 ...you could also consider getting a couple apple/mystery snails to clean up some of the garbage on the bottom and some of the algae
