What Can I Do?

I recently lost a pregnant female guppy. Actually, I believe she was killed while giving birth by my black neons. Can't confirm but she was pretty torn up, laying on the gravel. I know what they look like when they eat so I assume they went nuts seeing live food! My issue now is that I have another pregnant female and I'm worried they will do the same thing. I have a breeding trap but I don't want to put her in it too soon for fear of her aborting. I have read some descriptions of how she should look just before dropping her fry but not sure how to apply to her. Sorry, not able to get pictures. How long can she be kept in the trap before she freaks out and aborts?

They can last a few days in a breeding trap, try not to keep her in there for more than a couple of days as it stresses them out quite a lot.
