I had enough of this common brown alage that grows on my glass and all my plastic plants.
Some tank specs:
45-Gallon All Glass Aquarium
Two Aqua-Clear External 110 Power Filters, with double sponge inserts.
Aqua-Clear 70 Power Head
40% water change with gravel-vacs every 1-2 days.
My lighting is compact-floros from All Glass Company I think the bulbs are rated around 9200k.
The only fish is my Green Terror.
Yesterday I scrubbed the tank glass, actually replaced some of the fake plants with new ones because I just didnt want to scrub anymore plastic plants.
The only item in the tank left with alage is the plastic log which looks nice with alage on it.
I keep the blinds closed in the room to help prevent alage.
I was using a 6-hour light cycle but I think even that is to much and is still causing alage.
I do not want to use and chemicals to fight alage. The only chemical I use is Prime for my water-changes.
Sorry to keep ranting but lastly, I picked up one of those blue-led moonlight kits from CoralLife yesterday.
I just love it! Does the blue-light from the LED cause brown alage? I am starting to think I will use this light most of the time just to cut back on alage growth.
Thanks for reading! Gonna post some pictures tonight of the tank with the moonlight led.
