~ Hey ~ I was wondering what can go with a female molly and a femlae guppy in a 14 gallon tank? Thanks! PLESE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WITH IN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO AS I AM GOING TO THE FISH STORE!

Hi there, this isn't really an emergency section sort of thread but rather a livebearer section thing- but, anways...
Livebearers(like mollys and guppys) are sociable fish and appreiciate having their own species around, personally i would not have a molly in a 14gal as they can grow anything between 3 and 4inchs long, and a group of them would be a bit crampt in there- personally i would swap the molly for 4 platys(3female and 1male) and get another 2 female guppys.
You need to stock the tank gradually otherwise you may face water quality issues, so i would only get either the platys or the guppys for now. As for future planning though, what sort of fish are interested in and how long has the tank been set up? What is your average tank cleaning/maintanence regime i.e water changes and stuff?

Well i had platies and did not like them becuase they were breeding too much! Should i go with some guppies then instead and forget everything and just put some guppies?

The guppys will breed just as much as the platys, so will the mollys, so..If you don't want a fish that produces loads of fry every month, i would rehome teh molly and guppy and opt for somthing like tetras and corys in your tank :nod: .
Here are some tetra species that can go in your tank(is your tank 14 US or UK gallons?);

Black widow tetras;

Penguin Tetra

Rummy Nose Tetra

You could also go for neon tetras although i wouldn't really recommend them if the tank has been up and running for less than 6months.
You could also try some of these fish as well;

do you have any other suggestions then for what can go in the tank with them/ Thanks!

Cory wise you could go for these types, they are relatively hardy;

Bronze cory, there's also a commonly available albino variety;

Peppered cory;

Pygmy cory;

All in all, you could fit in your 14gal if you stock it gradually and keep up on your weekly tank maintanence;

10 of the tetras listed(5 of each)
4 of the above corys

and perhaps 4 of some shrimp like;

Amano/japonica shrimp;

And perhaps a couple of dwarf frogs;

Which of the tetras are you interested in :) ? each species needs to be kept in groups of at least 5(same goes for the danios is you want to have those instead of a tetra species, there is also a leopard danio color variety of zebra danios too), but you only really have space for 2 species. Either way i would add the tetras first, since all the types listed in the links are quite hardy, and then go for 4-5 of one of the cory types, and then lastly add the shrimp and frogs :thumbs: .
