I saw somewhere that fry can eat egg or egg yolk??? i cant remember where i saw it.

can anyone clear this up for me?

And any other ideas on food for fry?

Egg yolk is probably not a good idea as it will mess up your tank pretty quickly. Just go with crushed fish flake food. Live brine shrimp babies are also a nice treat for them, but they will do fine just on crushed flakes.

u can get liquifry and crushed flake food, try to get it as small as u can.

not sure about the egg

well i thought it would be messy aswell.....they are on crushed flakes at the moment.......someone said cucumber as well?

i have not try ed cucumber on fry but thats because i have none left. i am not a 100% sure if u should put it in. if u do put cucumber in there make sure to only put a little bit in.

Do u know what kind of fry it is?

i just feed crushend flake foods and newly hatched brinwshrimp.

That's the very best foods for all fry.

ive also heard you could feed egg yoke, hard boiled. but it will be messy and wont help that much, feeding the fry on crushed flakes and baby brine shrimp will be good enough. cucumber i dont know about, could be too tough for the fry to eat, maybe they will peck at the middle bit

Silly question, probably, but here goes anyway!

If I crush flake food really small for my hopefully-soon-to be platy fry, how will all the fish find it if it's too small to easily see? Is it 'smell' ?!

i havent got a clue to answering that quetion, but i know from experience that the fry always come to the surface to eat. sometimes when really young (FEW DAYS OLD)they will only eat the few bits that sink, but they soon learn to come to the surface to eat, i always feed mine in the same place, they are usally there waiting for me, lol.

if u ever watch your fish you will notice they constantly peck at anything that looks semi like food.
thats usaly how they find it
