What are your numbers?

50 gallon tank:

Now: 1.8 wpg (2x48 inch Nutri Grow from coralife- 40 watt)

Water:
temp = 78
PH = 7.6
KH = 4
GH = 3
Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = 20

Next week i will be adding a pressure CO2 system, followed the next week by a new light system from Coralife - 2x65watt 50/50 bulbs 48 inch... 2.6 wpg.

Just wondering about yours.... as ill be tweeking my game over the next couple weeks with my co2 n lighting....
Ive kept my ph on the high side anticipating a co2 drop next week...

Ok this is with co2, my Kh is low but i seem to get away with it, i dont get Ph swings its fairly stable, the fish dont mind the low Ph either, if my KH was even a tad lower than this i would definatly buffer my water.

Only number you are missing Walt is the phosphate reading, you might want to start looking into that, or you may have a bit of trouble with algae running 2.6 WPG.

Hiya Walt

Phosphate is really important, have a look at the article i did the other day on the Estimative Index pinned at the top of this section, its definatly the way for you to go, and its also the cheapest method by far particularily on larger tanks for fertiliseing, you have the makings of a really good setup with the your new co2 arriving and all, it would be a shame to be plagued by algae, if you follow the EI method other than in the beginning (all tanks will get some algae in the beginning especially with new setups) you should remain algae free, and this has been the bane of planted tanks for decades, but follow the method and i guarentee you will have a great looking tank soon after.
