i have this milky white hair like algae?well its all over the output to my hagen co2 unit.is this normal?what do i do?

let me guess looks like white spider web right?

I think that's

Cloudy Water
* water is cloudy or hazy
* white mold-like growths on rocks, plants
* "googey" pieces of debris cling to gravel
* fish become listless, increased chance of fin rot Cause: This is the most common problem experienced by beginners. It is usually due to:
1. Overfeeding: We have found that over 80% of cases of cloudy water are due to overfeeding. Decaying food creates a bacterial bloom and clouds the water.
2. New Tank: Cloudy water often occurs for a few days after you first set-up a tank. Maintain normal filtration and the tank will clear on its own. "Brite and Clear" , or "Filter Aid" tonic will speed the clearing.

Treatment: Do a partial water change of 25%. Review feeding procedures.. Maintain adequate filtration, and use fresh activated carbon in the filter. Add "Brite and Clear" tonic.

the rest of the water isnt cloudy but just the small area around the co2.ill do a water change today and ill get some new carbon

is it a yeast beast co2 system may be some has leaked into the tank. i had a bloob near my co2 outlet just scoop it out

its one where i have to add a stbilizer and activator packets so i think so.is there any way to keep it away?

i dont think it's co2 i'v seen it in another tank, it's all white spider like cottony web... the other tank i saw it in didnt have co2 at all. better yet can you show a pic

If it is overfeeding make sure you get and use a gravel vac rather than just a standard siphon on your water changes.....
I think? :dunno:
This should pick up any excess food left in the substrate, my algae wafers turned into the webby stuff in a day or two but a good gravel vac and it was gone....

I would gues its just the snotty build up you get at the end of the tube leading into the diffusor.

1. Clean the diffusor thoroughly.
2. Cut the pipe in the middle
3. Attach a bubble counter where you have cut the pipe.
4. Watch for weeks and weeks and notice the slimy snotty build up happens in the bubble counter and not the diffusor.

Why are you using stabiliser? What Ph is your water? I just use sugar to the first mark. ½teaspoon of yeast. Warm water to the top. I have 2 kits. Change 1 mix this week. Change the other mix next week. (Each mix runs for 2 weeks)

I do have a bubble counter and a Glass/Cermaic diffusor but I have no signs of snotty substance since putting the bubble counter in.
