What Are They ?

i have just noticed these strange little white worm things in my tank. by chance i saw two on the glass, but when i had a closer look there were quite a few in there. they all seem to be heading down to the gravel. they are very hard to see so not sure exactly how many are in there.

im hopin they are nothing serious cos my dwarf gourami had a munch on one of them !!!!! please dont tell me this will do her any harm. what are these horrible little things ? where did they come from ? and how do i get rid of them ?

my ammonia readings are norm, that nuch i do no.
do my water changes ev 2 wks, feed flakes once a day, and pellets for corys ev 2 days.
fish keeping is not as easy as you first think eh !
but i WILL master it
