What are these white lumps on this bogwood?

Apologies if this is the wrong section, just wanted to ask a quick question. I've recently picked up a couple of small pieces of bogwood from a store, and have just noticed after soaking for a few days that one price seems to have these hard white lumps all over it. Any ideas?

Do you have any nerite snails?

Thanks for the reply Haven't even got my tank set up yet, just had it soaking in a clean tub. Though they may have been a relic from where i bought them, they just had a pile out back for sale for £3 per kg.

They look like nerite eggs, if that wood has ever been in a tank with nerites at some point before you bought it. But the good news is they never hatch.


The white things are actually a casing with lots of eggs inside. Another member posted a link about nerites which is where I learned that.

Boil it to make sure it kills any bacterial or parasites that could still be living in it
