I know 10 gallons is kind if small but I really want to make something peaceful out of my empty 10 gallon tank. What is a hardy , easy to care for fish that would school in a ten gallon? It would only be those fish in the tank.

zebra danios would be good

No they wouldn't, they are extremely active fish and a 10gal tank IMO is too small, really 10gal is too small for most shoaling fish. i'd have said WCMM myself.....

neons, small rasboras and some white clouds/ danios, if the fish havnt got enough space to swim about they wont be missing anything, a 10 gallon is a good enough size for like 6 schooling fish and then some livebearers, small gouramis and a few corydoras

if you can get the brigitte rasboras are an excellent little schooling fish and are suitable for small desktop aquariums , they grow to about 3/4 "

If you haven't already, you might want to check out the pinned topic on stocking recommendations for a 10 gallon tank. There is also a current thread about good schooling fish (although technically, what you want is good shoaling fish).

Most tetras need a 60 litre tank in my opinion, but there are exceptions. Suitable fish would be Ember tetras (Hyphessobrycon amandae) and Microrasbora species.

The main reason a lot of tetras aren't really suited for 10 gallon tanks is because of the lack of swimming space. Active fish really need at least a 30" (20 or 29 gallons) tank to have ample room.

i would buy a school of tiger barbs...
it's nice seeing them always swimming in a school, they are a nice fish and strong too
i think neon's are very weak every time i add them into the tank they either die or just don't look healthy...
so i think neon's are not the way to go. but its up to you :)
