dont know how to post a poll.

What annoys u most?

People who take forever to help you out.

People who wont leave u alone when you're looking.

When u know more than the person working there

When the person tells someone that something is/ is not compatible and they're wrong.

Other

any other ones you want to add

You'll have one long list for that one that I'm not going to bother writing out but I've seen such complaints millions of times before so I'm sure I'm not alone and someone else will write in everything. Though, of course, it isn't ALL LFS workers.

when they take forever to help you, and they think they know more than you, but they dont, and they are wrong, but argue with you anyways. almost all my lfs are like that, they take forever to help you out, and when they acually do, they wont quit bugging you

It annoys me the most when young couples with kids ask "Do you have any Nemo fish?" (Note my signature). Not one of your choices but, that REALLY bugs me.

I know what you mean when you talk about bad LFS employees but I kinda have to get a little ticked because I work at a pet store! I know that some of the people I work with know absolutely nothing about fish though. One girl sold a frontosa to a customer telling him that it was a small community fish! I always get ticked off because all they have to do is tell the customer they don't know or go get someone who knows more but they don't want to look bad in front of the customer so they make stuff up.

I am the resident fish geek at our pet store, they actually put me in charge of our fish department. So, at least while I am working, customers can get some good help.

I hate it when I'm just looking around and I get asked if I need help about 20 times.

once i was at a lps and a girl said, "look we have neom fish for sale(it was a tiger barb) would you like one" so i said no and walked out...thats what annoys me

Yeah, when customers arn't really educated about fish, you can't really judge them and just say to yourself "oh they are annoying". But, I go to the LFS alot and all I hear is extremely dumb questions by people and bad info givin to them. It really makes me want to butt in and tell them the info, but, that's rude.

i know what u mean but my lfs store is pretty good my friend works there and i know the head of the fish department, and they know what their talking about

The petstore in town has a low selection. The fish are kept well, but sometimes when I have conversations with the owner (the only person ever on shift), I wonder in my head how she manages it.

She has a big problem with her betta's. I spent half an hour with her giving her the run-down. She keeps their cups clean but lacks on everything else.

I rescued a lonely female betta from her, she was in a tank with goldfish.

Also, when I was a beginner a few years ago, she completely agreed that it would be okay for an Angelfish to be in my standard 10 gallon, along with two 5 inch Shubunkin goldfish, "since it's only overstocking by 3 inches!" (Apparently she uses the 1 inch per gallon guideline as more than a guideline!)

20 years experience, hm!

Things that bug me:

- Seeing dead fish that you know have been decaying for more than a day.
- Seeing underfed fish.
- Seeing fish that should not be put together.
- Workers that would rather talk to their friends than assist customers.
- And my number one annoyance ... workers that make up an answer instead of saying, "I don't know. Let me find out for you."

That being said, I am fortunate that I have many excellent LFS's in my area and can avoid the places that I don't like.

I generally ignore bad fish stores when possible, so I'm really only talking about decent LFS's here... but the thing that bothers me most is actually, the LACK of attention they give their customers. This has been the case at 3 different stores I've frequented.

Note to decent LFS owners: Don't allow this. Knowledge and education are your big advantage over the big pet stores. If someone doesn't get the right answers from you, they're going to get the wrong ones from the big chain store.

So far, it's been a creepy old owner of an lfs I frequent. Rather forgetful and talkative. I never know how to stop the conversation politely. :p

When you have to hunt one of them down just to get some help/fish and then they decide to serve another customer that just showed up as you were getting back to the tanks. I actually had to hunt them down, why should I suddenly get pushed out of the way? I have money, I know exactly what I want, I'm not like that guy you just started helping who isn't even sure how big his tank is, let alone what he can put in it. Or they know you only want one fish, but help the person who wants twenty before you.

Once, when I bought my pictus, who was swimming around in a ten gallon with at least six balas, five black tipped sharks and one really scary pictus who kept having spasms, all of these fish who are already naturally skitish, she slams the net into the tank than precedes to just flash in all over the tank in an effort to single out the pictus, even when I told here that she should use a plastic container to get him out so he doesn't get snagged. Those poor fish were freaking out, I thought I'd end up picking them off the floor after they jumped out, but luckily none did, then, once she bags my pictus, she slams, and I mean slams, the lid down on the tank, sending all the fish back to slamming themselves into the tank walls. Totally peed me off.

Now, my major problem is the small store I go to, I feel guilty if I don't buy something, which has led to at least three new guppies since I started shopping there :look:

Actually, I get ticked off when someone can't get a coffee order right too. ;) Any time I get shoddy service or product - I walk away. Period. Same goes for a business selling fish and supplies. I try to spend my money in ways that at least don't exacerbate the problem. This way I don't have to deal with these people at all. :D
