Boy, I had such an adventure yesterday. I went to my LFS and got a pair of swordtails and 4 corys. Both the swordtails were females. I also got some live bloodworms.
Today morning I noticed that one of the swordtails was looking rather pale, with its tail a little bent downwards. Almost looked like she had delivered...and sure enough I found one little baby hidden in a pennywort leaf
Not sure what happened to the other babies, most probably they became tetra food...but then again I have a lot of plants and many hiding spots, so there may still be more...I'll keep an eye and siphon out the ones I find
The delivery was most probably because of stress, so there may be fewer fry...As for the poor mom, I think she's starting to feel better, the serpae tetras do chase her sometimes, but not very often. After all, she's double their size.
Now I'm feeling the other swordtail is also a bit plump
As for bloodworms, earlier I used to feed them only feeze-dried ones. Inspite of rehydrating, they wouldn't sink in the water, and most of them were eaten by the tetras, the corys hardly got any. The live ones that I fed today morning were a real treat for the corys...boy you should've seen them...
Now I have some overfed tetras, some happy corys, and live bloodworms, that I can't store for very long...
Sorry, no pics, batteries out.
