One day there was a (large, for a baby) fry, just one, swimming around. One of the females was obviously pregnant when I got her since she gave birth after a week. Everything was fine, but today I saw the fry (I named him/her Star) floating around, dead. I had never seen him/her eat and she/he was always sleeping. What have I done?

HELP!!!!!

Are their any other fish and what size is the tank?
Have you got and test kits and have u tested your water.
Have you done any water changes?

Sorry but we need more info like that to be able to help as i don't have a clue.

Try and answer as many as the following questions... will help diagnose the problem:

1. Water parameters. (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, PH, temp', Hardness etc)
2. A full description of the fishes symptoms.
3. How often you do water changes and how much.
4. Any chemicals and treatments you add to the water.
5. What tank mates are in the tank.
6. Tank size.
7. Finally Have you recently added any new fish?

Tank size: 20 gallons
pH:7.2
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:0.1
kH:?
gH:?
tank temp:25.1 celsius

Tank Age (How long the tank has been up and running): 4 months

Recent Events in the tank (things such as algea blooms, illnesses.. etc.. that have been treated recently): none, to my knowledge, although recently i have spotted some things about 2mm wide on the glass, about 5 of them in total, in small "capsules" which move around very slowly, and when i turned the lights on this morning there qwaas a white thing like a aterpillar only about 5mm long crawling on the back wall, but no obvious diseases or anything, although I would like to now what the above could be...

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): the fry was sleeping almost all the time at the bottom of the tank inside a little "caves" statue we got. all the others are only 3 months old and so have some colours (red, yellow, black spots, turquoise) and swim everywhere and eat 3 times a day. fry wasnever seen to eat.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25% once a week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: what does this mean?

Tank inhabitants: 3 guppies (1 male 2 female) and a snail. not including the dead fry (it HAS been removed dont worry)

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): guppies have been in there about...2 week. other tha that none. Did have swordtail but sold him as wanted guppies to breed.

Exposure to chemicals: none that I know of.

Digital photo (include if possible): Picture_89.jpg This photo has no fish in it. The thing in the background is my dresser, which explains the golden light. Picture_81.jpg This picture is from the same angle and has my male guppy in it although it does not do him justice, as it is blurry because he wasmoving!

Please help me now that I have done this.

if you have any idea what could be wrong or anything please reply because i am worried.

well water quality is perfect and fish look ok, some fish just die for no reason, perhaps just keep an eye out and if the look to be suffering then check it again.
