Hi

I have 8 molly fry which are now just over 6 weeks old, they all look to be female at what age will i be able to determine what sex they are?
Also i have new fry that came today which i have put in a breeding tank, i was wondering if i could put the 6 weeks old's in the big tank or are they still too young?

Thanks

they will be fine in the main tank if they a bigger than the biggest mouth  i usually wait a little longer

i think mollies take a while to sex, depending on what type you have usually when there about 2"

After a few months you should be able to see the anal fin/gonopodium.

You may want to separate the males from the females if you don't want more fry.

And they are probably still too young. It really depends on the fish in your community tank, but like lilfishie said, look at the mouths of the full grown fish and see if the fry would fit into them.

They are just a little smaller than neons but i think too big for adult mollies to eat, i also have 2 plec if thats what they are called bottom feeders...Might put them in a see how it goes  .. Thanks for your reply

Yeah i am pretty sure they will be fine... they really have come on over the weeks, They will be sharing a tank with mollies,Neons, Danios and 2 bottom feeders and non of the fish have big mouths

After about 3 months the gonopodium will appear on the male molly's according to the sites I have been looking at
