i was wondering if i can safely use aquarium silicone sealant made by all-glass to glue together slate. i'm worried that my rock cave will fall apart after a while if the silicone isn't strong enough.

i want to glue together slate tiles that are 3x3x0.5". each one weighs 0.5 lb.

Its never going to be that strong, but you can be clever as to bed it in the substrate and maybe use stones to stop it moving it should be OK. Personally I use milliput and not silicone though.

Silicone will be fine for what your doing and should hold up just fine, Ive dont the exact thing with no problems.

Hi celaeno :)

Whatever you use, be sure it specifically states on the package that it is safe for use in aquariums. Don't take the chance that harmful chemicals can leach out of it and poison your fish.
