im all done now added a fluval 305 today and im keeping the internal juwel setup so i can definatly handle the overstocking cycle is now finished water stats are
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10 my tap water is 0 cool huh?
ph 7.6 thats with the mopani wood so think i may keep it.

So now i just need to get my fish

I don't see anything wrong with that in a 55G its fine.

i was thinking 12 as its not a long 55g long the dimensions are 101x41x50 so would 12 be my best bet or what other options

12 is good 15 is pushing it a bit but can be done with good stockin levels what u gonna keep then???

i think to be honest im just going to get a selection of malawis that are different colours i have been reading a cichlid tank and some people have peacocks haps and mbuna all in a 55g tank together and say they have no problems or should i avoid this like the plague see the problem i have is all my lfs get there stock from the same supplyer so there all labelled as malawi cichlids so its hard for me to tell the apart so do you have any ideas on what i can do??? do i get one of each type, or buy 4 lots of 3 of the same?

One of each type can work(talk to ferris) but for some the need to be in groups.
