Wet/dry Filters

Does anyone know anything about wet/dry filters? I just got a 40 gallon tank that has one build into the back of it. I filled up the tank and plugged the power head in and it is running. I just dont know anything about them, like maintaing, the bio-balls, how often I need to change the mesh that catches the debris. If anyone knows any good sights about them that would be great. Thanks.

Is it a tropiquarium 88?The filters in them can go for ages without cleaning.Maybe wash the media in turns.Bio balls one month then the sponges the next month and so on.
