Wet Dry Filter Help !

I had a wet dry installed yesterday on a 125, fresh water cichlid tank eventually. Water is in up and running. My question is since I've never used a wet dry, I have two hoses that run into the plate of the wet dry and then of course the water runs over the balls into the fill and is returned to the tank. I have water gathering on top of the black plate that sits on top of the floss and bio balls, the water gathers and does drain down into the balls but it looks high on that plate, is that a normal thing or do I need to adjust something? Nothing ran over yet, but I'm a nervous wreck thinking it might?? !!!!! thanks for any help you may have.
