Went To Fish Store

The Other Day IWent to the fish store and picked up more black mollies.And i asked the fish guy to sneak in some fry into the the bag.And he put in about 7 fry(they would have gotten eaten anyway).But I just wanted to say>And I went back today and got another black mollie and asked to sneak some fry again and they did which is awesome but there an actual pet store that is decent and the attendants know what there talking about becuase i always usually ask them a bogus question and they always tell me good answer.

It's so refreshing to read a thread that was started to praise a lfs, not condem it. I'm sure other members must have some good stories to share about their lfs too.

Yeah my LFS is great too.

I used to go to a mom and pop store as I think you call them in america, but they were too interested in making money there and they employed people who didn't have a clue.

So I went to a big pet store instead - the aquatic part of Knight's Garden Centre - and its great! I got 6 harlequin rasboras for the price of 3 once, just because the guy was feeling generous. He also gave me a magazine with information in it about the nitrogen cycle and stuff like that, and always asks for tank parameters and what fish you have already before he lets you buy anything else.

So there are SOME good fish stores out there obviously

my lfs is useless the women that work there dont know anything I know more then what they do and im 14 there just jokes.They told me im not allowed to buy more then 6 fish at a time.I sed y because it hurts the fish she sed I took no notice and got 9 at once got them home they where fine playing around with each other I think they need new workers pets at home nere me.
I have learnt alot form this grate site thank you to the makers of it.

Technically this is true, you shouldnt add more than 4 fish at a time. The reason why is because adding fish changes the bioload in the aquarium, when you add too many at the same time your water readings Will go off for a bit and might actually cause a small re-cycle

My pet shop is cool with me too. If they get something new in that they know I might be interested in they'll show me right away and we always have a little talk. They are however still employees trying to sell stuff, so I'm afraid I cant take their word for everything.

my lfs is good. The know what they are talking about. The only thing i dont like is how there is no return policy on cichlids or aggressive fish, and the prices are way to high for them anyways. But everything else is great!

Also the reason for them saying you shouldn't buy more than 6 fish is because their guarentee at PAH won't cover you if the fish die, its your own fault for going against their advice. So they only guarentee less than 6 fish for 7 days.
