I overpaid to be fair ... I bought the 36" set from PlantsAlive and only used about a half of them + 1 bunch of java fern (left wood), and 1 large fern from my LFS.
Altogether plants alive cost me £20, and LFS £10.
Couldv'e saved a bit of cash if i'd selected individual plants and not got a full collection, but I'm rubbish with the latin names!!
Edit: Oh and the big middle one is a fake that came with the tank.
Some of those are definitely fake.. but are some live? If they are, it looks as if you haven't taken off the weights/pots, which you should do and plant each individual stalk slightly apart from the rest.
is the rhizome of the java ferns above the level of the substrate? - it will die if it isnt.
alos, some of the plants look like quite difficult species which require a good balance of light, co2 and fertilisers.
Although, it depends if they get past the cichlids.
All are live apart from one in the middle. They're all bunched in foam, but in a line across 'grow tabs' that came in the package... Never heard of them before but figured I may aswell try them.
Yep all the java ferns are on wood, not in the substrate.
If it's not java fern or anubias, I don't know much about them! Just thought i'd give them ago and see how long they last. Sevs seem to be picking at them already
I'm on my 2nd lot of 48" selections from Plants alive, this time i also got the red plants collection and floating plants collections. On the first lot they told me where to putthe plants along with the requirements of each plant which i thought was good~ Decent quality plants i;ll be sticing withthem for plants.
I think the tank looks great, it's good to leave a decent amount of room for the fish to swim in the middle.
