A Eheim 2217 external filter for £57.00 plus postage off ebay but the guy lives not to far from me so i might be able to pick it up.

Did i get a bargain ?

2217 retails new for about £75, so as long as you get all the bits, and the impellor is okay - yes, you did okay there. I have 3 2217's at least 2 are 15 years old - the build quality with Eheims mean they run forever.
