Just got 2 cherry shrimps and 3 algae shrimps (presumably amano) so hopefully they will help keep the algae down. The man ordered them in specially for me and they were only £1 each so I am quite pleased. I just hope they don't get eaten by the other fish.

They are really nice to watch. Something else but you cleaning the tank is always satisfying.

sounds like a good deal where did you get them from.

I got them from my lfs he ordered a dozen of each so I might get some more. However my kribs are giving them some hassel. I had never really thought about them. Typical of me. I was most worried about my Black widow tetras but they haven't even given them a second glance.

Is there a difference between ghost shrimp and algae shrimp? CAn either them or cherry shrimp eat algea that grows on the glass, or do they just consume whats on the aquarium gravel?

Algea shrimp isn't acctually a shrimp it is just what they were bought as. I think they will be amano shrimp although I haven't yet checked. Amano and Ghost shrimp are not the same thing. I know that both cherry and amano are very ifficient algea cleaners but what they eat I couldn't acctually tell you. I suspect that the glass would be too hard for them to clean.
