Interesting, seems to be a fairly common problem by the looks then. Somewhat interesting in a google search seems to reveal some held beliefs that
1. Fungus doesn't grown on mopani wood
2. Fungus will grow on wood that isn't completely dead (the fungus is feeding on the resin on wood that isn't properly aged. Which pisses me off as it has a little label guarantee on it)
3. Plecs love to eat it
4. It may go away after some time on its own
