Weird Ram Help

Hi, im hoping someone can help me here, i currently own a 96 Rekord fishtank. In the fishtank i have 4 neons, 3 tetras, 2 corys, a red fined shark and a ram. The ram has recently been acting wierd, i did buy it with another ram as the fish shop said it was supposed to be a pair, about a week and a half later one of the pair suddenly dissapeared i looked everywhere for it and couldnt find it and put it down to it dying and the other fish eatting it. While doing my monthly filter changes we found the missing ram dead at the bottom of the filter (looked like it had swam into the filter and just got sucked down where it got stuck ). After finding this out i tried to make the hole smaller by putting tubing in which i thought was working till today. My other ram the one which is left was swimming in and out of the filter for about 5/10 minutes and i just dont know what to do, because the filter is built in i carnt change it and im so worried that my other ram will follow the same fate as the other. Is there anything i can do? Does anyone know why my ram is doing this?

Hi Nessa and to TFF,

The ram will just be curious, nothing else.

I've heard of this happening in Juwel tanks before. Just block up the gap with a piece of filter sponge to avoid it happening again.
