Ok saw the most weirdest thing ever I when t to my neighbours house because her t.v fuses blow out and she wanted to get it changed but dint know how to and no1 was home at the time so she called me( I really hate her as she likes to buy every thing that I have) I went over and then I saw her tank (4 gallon tank) in her living room with 15-20 goldfish fry’s ( she will move them into the pond she got after they are big enough) in the tank she had all sort off stuff and then I saw this bamboo I mean live bamboo all so know as Lucky Bamboo inside her tank so now I am confused can that bamboo stay in a aquarium with fishes in? I mean don’t it release some kind of chemical or something???

This is the kind of bamboo she got in her tank

I would think it'd be just like having any other kind of plant in a tank... Lord knows I'm no expert on plants, though!

Wow! I rekon that would look pretty cool!

Don't know though, because I'm no plant expert....looks like it should be OK though....I'd put some in my tank if I knew it was safe....I think its a cool idea....

Yeah. That's "Lucky Bamboo" or Dracaena sanderana. I've kept it in a small vase on my desk at work before. Grows emersed in an inch or two of water with rocks or marbles. Almost a zero maintenance plant.

However, submersing it completely will likely kill the plant over time.

I've had two of them in a betta bowl for 3 years now. The tallest one is now over 3 feet tall! One died, but two of them outlasted the betta!

But like you said, it will most likely die if completely submerged.
