Okay, i bought six guppies yesterday, 2 male, and 4 female. Unfortunately, the guy at the LFS didn't give me a choice of fish so what i got was quite a mixed bag. Two females, had quite ripped up tails. on one, the rip was almost like a bite mark, the wound looked clean, and since yesterday has improved quite dramatically, however, the others wounds were all in little bits, little holes etc. Also, she had an opaque speck on her pectoral fin, and a redish mark on her gills. As one of the males was being quite vicious with the females, i decided to seperate this female into a breeding trap to give her a chance to recover. The guppies situation has gotten worse however, she sits on the bottom with her fins pointed upwards. The tail has got slightly better but her gillls look worse. Does anyone know what this is?
The tank is a 30 gallon, has been set up for two years, temp is currently at 25 Degrees Celsius. Worryingly, another guppy also has slight red marks on her gills, to be honest it might just be the colouring, as that guppy is not lethargic at all.
Please help,
Finlay
P.S i have not currently treated them with any meds

Red marks on gills can be bad water qaulity, gill flukes , bacterial.
Are the gills swollen, any exess mucas on the gills or body.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Does the fish swim in a jerky movement.
Does the fish dart around the tank.
Any white marks with the red on the gills.

Its not really red marks on gills as such, but more underneath? Anyways, the people on the guppy threads decided it was jsut the pale colour of the fish showing the gills underneath

Ok thats fine then.
Keep a look out for when they go to the toilet.
Never had any luck with guppys.
