Just been thinking about ......weird fish tanks. Has anyone ever used a water barrel, you know the large plastic green barrels you can buy at Garden Centres, as a fish tank?

They're fairly cheap, and there's certainly plenty of space. :)

I've personally never used them, as they can leach chemicals into the water  . I suppose 'food safe' plastic ones would be OK. :dunno:

A friend of mine, who now lives about 1000 miles away, thought about making an abstract fish tank. We would have gotten just plates of glass and put them together to make the most non-sensical looking fish tank in the world. I don't know how we would have done air-pumps, filters and all that; but it would have been fun to do.

Errrrm......would you be abe to see the fish? Doesn't sound like something that I would want people to see. :/

The London aquarium used to have this old car which was converted into a tank.

How about converting drinking water dispenser into one?

I don't know how easy it would be to do... but get a couple of big old speakers and line the insides with some sort of waterproof plastic, take out the actual speaker and put a clear peice of plastic to cover the hole, so it's like a port-hole.
If you have speaks with tweeters on them, you could do the same so you have a bit more viewing perspective.

Having a couple of them set up on your desk would look pretty hot. Especially if you're a musician.

I was going to try this with my speakers when i get my new monitors for the studio, but uni's hecktick at the moment. Might try it over christmas. :flex:
