Dont know how this happened, I had a black (both solid black) Molly pair (m/f) and a guppy pair (m/f).
Females of both were preg, guppy went first, had a floating breeder tank. Put guppy in there, had babies, just 2 survived. Then molly went in and she had a few, but then my daughter pushed the little tank under and they all got freed, so only the two survived. Ok in the beginning till about 2 months they were solid grey, (like guppy baby's are) looked to be female to me, but knew young so didnt think about it. then long story short, tank broke, i wasnt there, husb left it with the 2 baby's and one cichlid, a jack dempsy in same tank, no filtration, just in the water. I got a new tank fixed problem. The babys are now about 6 months old, about full size as my other molly's new ones.
But now they look to be male, and instead of developing a little color, they now are clear/grey with tons of black spots, looking like a dalmation molly, ok i may concede that the molly baby survived, instead of guppy baby, but i swear that the molly babies were all black.?lol, I was watching her have them and they WERE all black, but how would these get spots anyways if both parents were solid black?
I had had her for like oh 6 months before she threw this pair, so i didnt think could still be from pet store, anyways she was with all solid black intank there too? lol, a big mystery for me !! Now my guppy threw 42 babies the other day and they are in floater tank lol
