Weird Convicts

I have a male and a female convict in my tank for about a 6 days. And today when i came home from school there was a giant pit in the back corner!! They are chasing everything away from the bottom of the tank but when i come close to the tank they leave the spot and come to the glass like everything is normal.
So what is happening??

Up Date: Its been about 10 minutes and I think the female has her ovipositer out!! It white and kinda thick and blunt?? Hope im right. :yes:!!!!! The male hasent done have his ovipositer out yet. Hope they lay by the end of the day

Hi krib, What size is the tank and what tankmates are in there with the convicts?

The tank is a 40 gallon and it has black skirt tetras and a pair of angelfish

ps: they layed there eggs last night and the female is beating the crap out of the male!! No one else is hurt
