I know certain kinds of loaches eat snails, I used to have a very large and quite cantankerous yoyo loach that took care of a snail problem extremely quick.
But, I traded him (at one of our local pet stores, that actually trades fish for fish, providing you purchased it there) for a few other fish that I wont bother getting into.

I presently have a 7 inch long weather loach, that I've owned for awhile now and was wondering if they ate snails.

Obviously, you can tell, I have a bit of a snail problem ATM.

I've looked on the net for information, but have come up with a couple of "maybe's" or "presume" they do's.

Any response would be welcome.

Thanks!

Maybe if they are really small snails but dojos aint great for snail control.

Well, I take great care in not importing snails to my tanks. (cept when I really like a plant)
Unfortunatly I purchased a plant riddled with eggs and I dont want to return the plant.
As for large snails, I would simply pick them out with my hands.
I may end up just buying two or three clown loaches I suppose.
But I thought if i had a good snail eater already I wouldnt bother.
I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for your input freind!

HAH!!!

Forget about loaches!

My bala's are eating snails I got today from the pet store to use as an experiment to see if the dojo would eat em.
I've been looking all over the net for info on Bala's eatin snails, but have found nothing.
Anyone have any experince with this?
I have no idea if the bala's can digest them?
They chewed and chewed and chewed, swallowed and than swam away happily.
Hope they dont get "bunged" up from this.

**sigh
