I love weather loaches, my fiancé has one in his goldfish tank and I was wondering if I could have one in my 26 gallon tank with these fish?

3 Blue Dwarf Gourami
6 Neon Tetra's
5 Peppered Cory Cat's
1 Candy Striped Pleco

I like them also, here we call them Dojo. Most people will probably tell you no given the size of your tank. They are very mobile, swimming from side to side and up and down. They also sometimes bury up in the gravel and 'dissappear for days on end. My thought is if you have a stable tank, meaning no recent deaths, you are doing routine water maintenence, and you have a good filtration system you could probably add one. They are not particularly messy and they are great fun to watch. You should think about a bigger tank as is seems you have the 'bug'. Good luck. Scott

I had one weather loach until January this year, when I upgraded from 60 litres to my present tank (see my sig file), now I have five loaches and love them all to bits.
They are real characters, and I never tire of watching them
gpgscott is right - they do need quite a bit of room. I have noticed that since I upgraded my oldest weather loach has been far more active and mobile.

26gal is fairly small for them. They can get to be pretty big.

They are coldwater going on sub-tropical fish, all of your fish are tropical so based on the temp of the tank alone it is a "no". To keep weather loaches, you need at least a 36inch long coldwater or sub-tropical tank as they are very large growing fish;

Yep, sound advice there.
I was thinking about going tropical but haven't because of my weather loaches. Mine are happy at 22oC in my un-heated tank, and I have removed the heater just to be on the safe side.

ive got an albino weather loach hes brilliant him and the clown loach play with each other i cant keep up with them half the time lol i can also pick him up feed him and stroke him hes so friendly if i put my hand in now he comes straight to me and whirl round my hand hes one of my favourites

I would say no since they can get large (10 inches or so) and generally are sub-tropical fish.

Can a mod lock this please, this topic is nearly 2 months old and no longer required.
