I have just been watching my first Guppy give bith....

I have caught 6 fry so far and transfered them to a partioned part of the same tank.

I have a couple of questions:

How many can we expect?
How long does this go on for?

What and when should I start feeding the fry?

Thanks

Now back to the show!!!!

Thanks

Frank

Congrats on the fry

Usually the amount of fry depends on the size of the female. My females usually gave birth to about 10-15 fry but fully grown females can give birth to as many as 100 I believe. I've never heard of anyones giving birth to that many though. I'd say expect 15-20 :)

Hey congratulations on your fry!

How many you get depends on the female. If its her first you may only get 10. My female I've had since August last year just had 60 and she'd already started when I noticed and I saw her eat some so goodness knows how many she really had. She's had 4 batches before then so I guess she's in her prime.

She should be done within a couple of hours

Start feeding the fry straight away with Liquifry for livebearers or if you can't get hold of that try a very small amount of boiled egg yolk. Be careful or you can cloud your tank. You can also get Tetra min crushed flake food for babies with added vitamins. I like to use frozen baby brine shrimp and I've also got microworms. Basically anything small enough to fit in their tiny mouths

Feed at least 3 times a day for big strong fry :flex:

Good luck!
