This week the Wet Spot has some beautiful offerings including the wild caught purple pencil.
Then try morse code tetra:I love red color in fishes, especially wild fishes.
I'm quite fond of the Purples and greatly prefer them to the Coral Reds. The price continues to rise, I'm noticing. I do not find them hard to keep though i suggest giving them plenty of room--males are territorial--with plant cover and keeping them in numbers (which gets expensive.) Zarske's name for them is a head-scratcher. It translastes 'red tailed.' There are many red-tailed Nannostomus, but N. rubrocaudatus isn't one of them. If you go for it, make sure they have both sexes available. They are clearly dimorphic with the females looking like N. marginatus with a bit of red on the flanks.I know that @Innesfan likes pencil fish . What’s their story ? Hard to keep ? Hard to find ? What ?
