Hi Guys

I know how you work out the wpg but wondered if you should take into account the displacement of the substrate, bogwood , rocks ect ect , the reason i ask is because i added another tube to my tank (vision 180ltr 47.55us gallons) on sat, i now have 3 x 25watt tubes.

If working it out with the max capacity of water it gives me 1.5wpg but when taking into account my substrate bogwood ect i recon its more like 160ltr (42.26 us gallons) so that would make it 1.7wpg.

Should i still go with the 1.5 wpg or 1.7?

at the same time as adding the lights i started using Tropica plant nutrition, do you recon i should see a good improvement in the plants in a few weeks??

Cheers

Kev

Good question of which I don't know the answer. I have a Vision 180 with 3 x 25w T8's. How planted is your tank?

Most people I think just do it on tank volume as the WPG rule is only a guideline anyway. Is there that much difference between your 2 figures?

Its not to heavily planted , here's a pic of it on the 4th dec

all i had at the time was 2x 25 tubes with nutrafin grow sticks under the plant roots and a greenline fertilizer bag

and here's what it was like in the 29th jan

the last few weeks the plants haven't been doing so great that's whats prompted me to upgrade the lights and add Tropica plant nutrition, hopefully that should help them along a bit.. I'll post a pick up later on tonight of what its like now.
