k i have an issue with my tank. i have a 20 gallon tall tall, its 20 inches long 10 inches deep and 24 inches high! currently i have two of the standerd light fixtures with a combined wattage of 30 watts, now its my understanding that its 2watts per gallon. but i only have 1.5. and i am also getting a red algea growing in the tnak and i believe that this si a result of not enough light in the tank. am i correct to assume this? now what can i do about this, there isnt enough room ontop of the tank to fit another standered fixture.

well i ahve a power glo one in one side and just a regular aqua glo in the other, do u htink changing the aqua glo over to a power glo willhelp?

You do not need to have 2 watts per gallon. A tank with below 2 watts is considered a low-light tank, and a tank with over 2 watts is considered a high-light tank. Low-light tanks r normally easier if u are just getting into live plants, high-light tanks require Co2 and more difficult.

You should be able to grow plants in that tank as long as they are low-light plants. Also if use flourite as a substrate and use fertilizers your plants would grow a lot better.

well the plants i have are all low light plants i think, id have to look at the website again just to be sure but they seem to be doing ok. but i havent used any fertiliseers yet tho. keep meaning to but never remember to pick it up
