Water, Water, Every Where And Not A Drop That The Fish Can Live In

So why is pond dechlor so cheap then ? There must be something more that doesn't meet they eye. Please enlighten me :)
It doesn't have the word Aquarium in it. Look at how many other things (lights for example) become so much more expensive once the word aquarium is in front of it.

right I bought some of the 'pond' decholorinator, which is the same price for 500ml as the aquarium stuff, BUT 10ml treats 200ltrs (44imp Gallons) where as 10ml of the aquarium stuff treats only 2imp gallons.

So its seem more concentrated, which means 1ml treats 20ltrs so I have made up a large vat which I've marked out in ltrs so I can accuratly measure the dosages for the dechlorinator.
If it has any addverse effects I'll post :D

so here goes nothing.... well maybe all the fish in one of my tanks, but I doubt it

Wow, is this the only product that is cheaper in Australia than the rest of the world?

I have a 500ml bottle here which cost me AU$13.95. and thats not the cheapest stuff either. Its proper aquarium stuff too.

Why dont you buy the big bags of the blue powder dechlorinator?? They work out cheap.

what is blue powder declorinator?????

Probably Sodium Thiosulphate crystals. ST is the more common agent used in dechlorinators to react with the chlorine. If it were more easily available, more people would probably use it, though shops selling 500ml bottles that only treat 200 gallons are not likely to then stock a 25kg bag that treats 10s of thousands of gallons...

And thus we end at the vicous circle of money and greed :D

Plus if you just used a dechlorinator, you would still be left with the heavey metals, wouldn't you?

My fish seem ok so far, lets give it a few days and see :)

If it works well then maybe we should all use it :D and get tetra and the other companies to start producing a product which is going to be better for the customer, but then they probably wouldn't make a product a customer buy once every two years at £12.00 a pop, its just not profitable.... NO!! its come back round to money again....

Already been said but i use pond dechlorinator to treat tapwater for water changes, currently i'm using the Kockney Koi brand which costs around £15 for a litre of the stuff and should last me the best part of the year, if not longer. Before that i was using a litre of stress coat a month!!
