I'm sure there's one of these on here somewhere but I couldn't find it. I know there are free convertors on the web but I prefer to do all calulations myself using a calculator. Can't help being a purist

1 litre = 0.264172051 US gallon
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres

1 litre = 0.219969157 Imperial gallon
1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres

1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095042 US gallons
1 US gallon = 0.832673844 Imperial gallons

Also, this website lets you put in tank measurements in inches or centimetres and will give you a volume. Doesn't help those of you with hexagonal tanks but then you've only got yourselves to blame.

I'm with you, bloooo2. I just use google calculator myself for conversions. But I have remembered these two formulas.

(height in cm) * (width in cm) * (depth in cm) = tank in cubic centimeters
then you divide that by 1000 for litres

(height in inches) * (width in inches) * (depth in inches) = tank in cubic inches
then you divide that by 231 for US gallons

If you have the tank dimensions I like this one, as it also gives you the weight of your aquarium if you were to fill it with water to the brim.

theres an acurate tank conversion on the pets classifieds, click on fish, then home, and it will bring up the conversion, just set it as favourites. it calculates in litres uk gallons and us gallons. hope it helps.
