Hi, i was just wondering if i could goto my local tropical fish shop and get them to test for PH, nitrites,ammonia, nitrates for free?

you can usually, mine do it, just pick up the telephone and ask!!!

Yep, most stores let you. Just don't rely on them alone, get your own test kit as soon as you can.
