no didnt use any media from old tank because as i had troubles with old tank i wanted fresh start on this tank,in no hurry just want it right.

one of the two externals im running was from old tank,it got cleaned in cold water before going on new tank.the other external was new start on this tank.

going to lfs tomorrow to see what results they get from my water so i have those to post up then.

nitrite still showing zero, slightly greenier than the usual sky blue but i would call it zero.

biggest cause of death with the bloodfins is jumping.... had 11 at one time, both tanks fully covered except feeding and water change times and slowly i find them dead on floor behind tank.

That's the worst!  (Well, actually there is worse, but that's pretty bad.)

I've only ever had one lost due to jumping (zebra danio) - and one died from water change (sucked up tube).

worst one for me was a L141 pleco i had for about 2 1/2 years which was stunning and had great personality.

i did big clean (my fault) on the 120 lt and lost her/him.

i had the 200lt in mind and was looking forward to putting her/him into a bigger home.

just toke water sample to my local LFS and they got same results as me so at least my test kit is fine and i am doing it right!!

just have to be patient and keep checking.

You might want to spread your testing to every other day for a while to conserve some of the test kit...

And see what you can do about getting a bit of carbonate into the water (baking soda or calcium carbonate).  It can't hurt, it will only help.  If you've 'used' up all the carbonate in the water, then the bacteria won't be able to effectively process ammonia and grow their colony.  It will raise pH slightly as well...
