Set up a new 55 gallon tank tonight. All I have done is clean and add the gravel, plants, filter, heater, etc. I added the dechlorinated tap water. Hubby helped iwth it and got it a bit too warm (88 F). I'm waiting for it to cool down before adding my bio-spira. What is the ideal temp? I unplugged the heater (that was given to me) in case it was not working right and causing the temp to stay high.

I figure if worse comes to worse, I'll let it sit overnight then check the temp again. The filter is running great, so I'm going to add the bio-spira tomorroa unless you guys tell me differently.

A good temperature for any kind of fish is arround 76-78.

Yep. I know it needs to be around 76 or 78. My question was what should I do to bring the temp down? Do I need to do a partial change of the brand new set up clean water or can I wait it out?

remove the top cover of ur tank and leave it like that turn off heater if possible put a fan next to ur tank and have the fan blow right on the surface of the water. Water can cool down so fast this way like 4-5 hours of blowing will comes down to like 75 easy.

THanks! I opened up both sides and turned the ceiling fan on . Hopefully it will come down quickly. I want to add the bio-spira tongiht before I go to bed if possible. The lfs told me that I can add fish tomorrow night, if I got it all set up and added tonight.
