Hello everyone,

So I am interested in getting a Bristlenose Pleco for my 125 gallon tank.  While researching online I am finding conflicting issues on what variance of water temperature these fish can withstand.  Many say low 80's while others say 65-78  anything more will kill them.  Other than trial and error which I do not want to do what is the correct answer?

My current set up is a 125 gallon with canister filter that does 528 gallons/hr, power hear, 400w heater, 2  250w MH, moon blue led for night light.  Sand/small gravel substrate.  several large lace rocks and Mopani wood and well planted.

Fish stock:
5 Bala
2 DG - 1 blue 1-Fire orange
3 panda cory
2 yellow mystery snail
5 serape tetra
5 Black Phantom tetra
6 white clouds
2 GBR
2 Rainbow

~21-25C for most of the year will be fine, as would a "summer season" reaching ~28C.

But I have to say your current stocking is all "over the shop." Your GBRs need a minimum ~27C, while you have temperate White Clouds that should be in a heaterless tank that very rarely exceeds 22C.

All three of my Bristles are in 26/27. Two of which are a breeding pair.

I appreciate the help.  As for the white clouds my LFS said they would be ok and I keep my tank at 79 which I have found is in their temp range.  I hope I haven't been fed misinformation.  I tried to stock with compatible species, even if they are not from the same geographic location.

The white clouds will more than likely "look fine" but a fish designed for cooler temperatures have slower metabolisms. When you put them into warmer water it speeds their metabolism up drastically reducing their life span.

Causing damage is not what I want to do so Ill be seeing about returning them today and looking into other options.  Thanks again.
