Water Stats

received my liquid test kit a few days ago after fishless cycling for a week and these are my stats, just wanted to be reassured i'm heading in the right direction and a few ideas about maybe when i can start adding fish !!

jan 30th 13:00

PH 7.6
PH high range 8.0
AMMO 2.0 26 drops added to raise to 5 ppm
NITRITE 2.0

jan 31st 10:00

PH 7.6
PH high range 8.0
AMMO 0.5 30 drops added to raise to 5 ppm
NITRITE 2.0

feb 1st 13:00

PH 7.6
PH high range 8.0
AMMO 0.25 30 drops added to raise to 5 ppm
NITRITE 5.0
NITRATE 160 NITRATE in tap water 40

It looks as if the nitrate is climbing although you didn't have readings on it for the first 2 days. That would mean things are proceeding as they should. One side note, you don't need to waste your low pH test material. SInce your pH is 8.0, the ,low will always show 7.6. Only test with both if you get a 7.6 on one or the other.

cheers for your reply, today was the first time i tested for nitrate cos i read somewhere that its pointless doing it before you get a decent nitrite reading, good point about the high ph range though cheers !! Bring on the day i can go fish shopping !!
