I have been cycling my tank empty for a week now and the water is okay, when do I start adding the new fish.
I have been exchanging the water in the old tank to new by doing every other day top ups.
I was expecting the Nitrates to peak or will that still happen ??

How have you been cycling the tank?

Using Stability as direceted.
I have also added twice now about 25% of my other tanks dirty water.
I also added some filter waste to filter to get it going.
Next I am told to add fish, to get the cycle going .
Hubby checked it this am and said its good it was very bright pink most of the week but it is turning and is really pale which is okay. Ph is istill 7.4 . I have only got half a kit left. so will need to get another kit. Using old kit as just one month.

Just scared to add the fish too soon.
I have had them in the wee tank 8 months now.
I can't wait though to have fish again in the living room also the more space they have is good but if water is going to peak again.
I really don't understand all this rpp so I go by the colours

Okay done water stats and the Ammonium is o and the nitrite is 0 the ph is 8

As far as I understand Stability is a product to help the growth of nitrosomonos; the bacteria that breaks down ammonia. But you have no source of ammonia in your tank currently, thus it’s not really going to be doing much. Your other tanks dirty water may contain a little ammonia but a doubt it would be enough to cycle your tank.
Personally I have been doing a fishless cycle for the last 9 days and have just had my nitrite spike, I’m now seeing nitrate produced. I’m going to start doing some water changes and am hoping my levels will come down to decent levels by next Sunday to allow me to add some fish. But unfortunately I don’t think you have really started to cycle your tank, unless you have been adding ammonia? :/

Read this link it should help you understand the cycle process a bit more.

Piper :D

My understanding is that fish Amonia is different from what you buy so once your filter is up and running which mine is as i have added the same bacteria thats in my old filter. So what I need to do is really start adding the fish.
Seachem do not agree with the use of ammonia unless you know what your doing, and I do not understand as you cannot tell how much fish push into water daily.
It's a mystery but I have kept nearly all I have bought with a few fatalities.
I will do as before I think. Thanks anyways .
