Water Sprite

I've got some Water Sprite and I've only had it floating, but I recently read that it can also be planted in gravel (is this correct?). If I do plant it, will it grow vertically with a stem, because while it was floating it didn't have a stem and just grew horizontal leaves coming from the middle. Thanks in advance!

Plants grow towards the light. On the surface that means spreading out, from the bottom that means growing up. Sprite does either well.

Water sprite grows much better planted in the gravel.. I have leaves 80cm long in one of my tanks.. and look really good..
